Graham County is located adjacent to Great Smoky Mountains National Park within hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness. Two-thirds of the county is located within national forest. It has some stunning mountain landscapes and views. The Appalachian Trail goes through this county.

There are various places to stay in Graham County, ranging from lakeside vacation cottages, remote mountaintop lodges, to secluded campsites. The little town of Robbinsville, North Carolina, is the county seat of Graham County. The county is also the home of Stecoah, Lake Santeetlah, Fontana Lake, Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, Joyce Kilmer, Cherohala Skyway, Nantahala National Forest, the Snowbird Backcountry, Slickrock Creek, and the Cheoah River.
