Fly Fishing Paint Creek Tennessee
This is one of those streams rarely mentioned by anyone that lives outside of the
area it flows through. One reason is the high number of other fine trout streams
within a short distance of Paint Creek. The stream isn't that far from Newport
Tennessee and Newport isn't very far from Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We have yet to see very much of this stream and the attached "Perfect Fly" Stream
section on Paint Creek will explain one reason for this. Also, the one and only time
we fished it was approximately six years ago and not long after a bad flood had
dealt the area many problems with washed out bridges and roads. When we finally
did get to a place that suited Angie, we did catch some small wild brown trout and a
couple of small, wild rainbows. I can't imagine it not having some large ones
although we didn't hook one.

Most anglers that fish Paint Creek probably do so when the stream is stocked in its
lower section. I'm not certain about that, of course. I'm just quoting what the locals
told us.
