Stream and Lake Destinations - Big Horn River, Montana
In today's link with one of our "Perfect Fly" Stream Destinations, we have one of the
best tailwaters in the country, and in many angler's opinion, the best one in the
United States -
The Big Horn River. I would say this is probably close to being true
in good water years but I would still rate the Madison River above it. Why don't most
anglers agree? Because many are unaware the fifty mile section of the Madison
River is a tailwater. They think of it as a freestone stream and it would be if they
tore down the dam at Hebgen Lake and the earth dam mother nature made at
Quake Lake.
