Weather and Stream Conditions Report - Coming Week
I hope everyone gets the opportunity to fish the park today because here comes the
first real cold front of the Fall.
The following is based on the National Weather Service forecast for Gatlinburg.
Right now, at 5:00AM this Veterans Day, it is 60 degrees. Today will be just great,
sunny, and with a high near 64. Tonight's low will be around 42.
There is a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday. The temperature will fall down to
37 by 5:00PM with some gusts of wind up to 20mph from the north, or a little on the
chilly side. Snow showers are expected Tuesday night in Gatlinburg, so I expect that
means the higher elevations of the park may be white by Wednesday morning. The
low Tuesday night will be 23 degrees.
Wednesday's high will only reach about 45 and the low Wednesday night will reach
down to about 22.
Thursday starts a warming trend with a high that should reach near 56 and a low
that night of about 31.
Friday should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 58 and a low Friday night of about
42. Friday should be a good day for fly fishing the park.
There's a slight chance of showers on Saturday with a high near 61. Another good
day for fishing if the forecast holds up. The low Saturday night should only go down
to around 48.
Sunday, shows a 40 percent chance of showers with a high near 67. That's still a
good fly fishing forecast for mid November.
Tomorrow, I will provide some suggested fly fishing strategies.
I want to wish all our Vets a happy holiday. If it were not for them, I wouldn't be
writing this and you wouldn't be thinking about the opportunity to go fly fishing. I
personally don't think we do half as much as we should to help those Vets that need
help of any kind. As a country, we should be ashamed of the way some of
our Vets are treated. Far too many reap the benefits of living in this country with
little to no respect for those that gave them that opportunity.
